Making wines that display the purity of fruit, elegance and refinement is the focus of our skilled team. From the gravelly soils of our river terrace vineyards, we produce mouth-watering, ripe fruit that is gently crafted to become the wines of Southbank Estate.
In Marlborough, our fruit is sourced from a vineyard called “The Confluence”, at the banks of the Wairau river, located 18.6 miles inland from the Cloudy Bay coastline at the north-eastern end of Marlborough. The Wairau River is one of the longest rivers in New Zealand’s South Island. It flows for 105.6 miles from a northern range in the remote Southern Alps.
The sandy, stony soils deposited by the river are naturally free draining. The vineyard’s inland location, at 200 feet above sea level is ideally suited to the production of Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit from this vineyard shows great intensity and acid freshness.
