Wines
Anchored in the zesty, fresh end of the flavour spectrum the wine gains a resplendence of fine, bright and ripe acids rising up from its core. The superb season has fleshed this intensity out with fruit of terrific depth and definition. Aromas of fresh asparagus, lime and sunshine warmed grass clippings sit beautifully over less overt, yet exotic, notes of tree ripened grapefruit and red capsicum. The mouth-filling immediacy tightens as the juicy acidity strikes the fruit into a long and aromatic finish. Try with twice baked goat's cheese soufflé or lemongrass steamed whole snapper.

New Zealand’s favourite white takes on a new personality, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with a bright red berry twist. A dash of the red grape Syrah compliments the pure and intense Savvy fruit in a fleshy, aromatic expression of summer.

Aromas of nashi pears, guavas, and yellow peach are complimented by a gentle custard like character that weaves through the wine in both flavour and mouthfeel. From the lush mid-palate a pure, off-dry and persistent finish encourages the next sip. Delicious on its own, Pinot Gris is also a very food friendly wine, the subtle character supporting but never upstaging the dish. Pinot Gris partners especially well with seafood pastas and fresh sushi and sashimi enjoyed with friends and conversation.

Subtle notes of lemon curd, grapefruit and oatmeal rise gently from the glass before weaving back into the wine. The front palate is distinctly intense, concentrated and poised. Oak and leesy notes sit as a backdrop to beautiful fruit. Seamlessly integrated no single character defines the wine aromatically. Fine texture and deft balance move effortlessly into a persistent finish. With the integrity to age well up to ten years, this is also a treat to enjoy young with a puff pasty chicken pie and sautéed field mushrooms.

This vintage of Syrah is all about fragrant aromas of violet, blackcurrant and raspberry with a hint of clove and earth. On the palate the soft core of fruit is beautifully framed by rounded and very integrated tannins. This supple body makes the wine very approachable. Long and intense drink now or cellar for six years.

Already this Merlot is beginning to show lovely aromas of dried herb and subtle bramble alongside classic currant and Black Dorris plum characters. While concentrated with a soft mid palate the wine holds a fine balance from the front palate through to the long, persistent finish. A silky core of fruit and overall finesse can be attributed to the season’s ideal ripening conditions. Though complex and very approachable now the tannin balance and persistence of flavour suggest a long life ahead.

Immediately appealing with a lifted fragrance of red summer fruits and an appetising chocolate and oak complexity. An elegant acid balance sits nicely around a supple core of fruit defining the palate. The tannins sit softly in the background making for a very approachable style boasting excellent varietal character. Enjoyable on its own this versatile Pinot Noir will partner with roast turkey and stuffing as easily as with a salad of broad beans, rocket leaves and hot smoked salmon.
